LARK
(2015)
Losing her hearing as a toddler has not stopped Lark Detweiler from pursuing her passions. Since age two, Lark has been reading lips and has excelled at this skill to understand the world around her. Lark started dancing at the age of three and hasn’t stopped since. Now 14-years-old, Lark trains 14-20 hours a week and travels to competitions throughout the country.
This documentary follows Lark navigating the dance world without a key component to this art form: sound. We will watch Lark prepare for a competition and see the extra effort that goes into her training. After the competition, regardless of the outcome, Lark will speak to an audience of elementary schoolers and encourage them to follow their dreams.
